Who We Are
Michael Fremont
Founder
Michael “Mickey” Fremont began surfing in 1964 on Long Island N.Y. In 1966 after graduating from High School he and two high school friends drove to California to attend college. He began shaping surfboards in the winter of 1968-1969. He shaped surfboards through the 1970’s for various manufacturers and also had his own brand with dealerships in San Diego, New York, New Jersey and Texas.
In the early 1980 he began designing and producing racing and production sailboards and equipment.
While looking to purchase a helmet and finding none that he liked. He simply made his own. Every time he wore it other surfers would ask where they could get one and started making some for friends. With the surf lineups getting more crowded and surfers riding more dangerous and challenging waves. Mickey saw the need for a modern design type of surf helmet. The WAVESHOCK tm helmet was born. A lightweight, snug fitting, and comfortable helmet. Designed for surfers by a life long surfer.
